A New podcast for Grace Foundation Charity.

The Client:

Grace Foundation are a wonderful organisation based mostly in the midlands, partnering with high schools to offer holistic education. They provide family support and youth workers who work with the students, offering drop in clubs, mentoring and coaching sessions. With all the battles facing young people in today's world Grace foundation provides safe spaces and friendly faces to talk to when teenage life gets tough.

The Brief:

The work Grace foundation does means that they understand the real struggles facing young people and their families and the idea was sparked to create a podcast for the parents of teenagers. For parents, talking to teenagers is never an easy task, and certain weighty topics make that a tougher challenge, all to easy to put off, but those complicated issues need to be discussed... So the vision was to have a podcast series, with expert guests, youth workers, family support workers, relationship specialists and career advisors to firstly unpack these topics and then to provide advise to the parents on how best to approach these topics with their teenagers.

The Project:

So far we have created a short series of podcast episodes, each with one host and two guests. These have covered, well-being, bereavement, careers, transitioning to a new school and relationships.

Each podcast was very easy to film, we filmed either one in a morning/afternoon or two in a day. I took my equipment to the clients, we filmed mostly at their head office and one in a school. Having video as well as audio for podcasts is gaining popularity, as it adds a way of connecting with the audience and creates the possibility of using YouTube as a platform to share the podcast. Therefore I recorded each episode with a multi-cam set up, allowing for a wide and close up angles of each speaker. While some of the expert guests were a bit nervous about speaking on camera at first, they all said after that it was much easier and calmer experience than they had expected.

During the edit stage I created the opening jingle and graphics for the series and communicated with the client on editing the content for each episode. As well as the edited episode I also created clips for sharing on the client's social media accounts.

The Feedback:

The clients were very happy with the finished result, and feedback from listeners said how helpful a resource it was. I am in discussion with the client about creating more episodes for the series.
