A four episode coaching series for a Liverpool Church

The Client: St James in the City is a Church in the centre of Liverpool with a vision to reach students and families within the city. While the building is 250 years old, the current church community only started meeting in 2008 and they have been on a journey to restore the church building (which had been left derelict for a number of years) and grow the community ever since.
The Brief:
I was commissioned to work with the leadership of the church to create a 4-part series to be used as a training and discussion resource for new people joining the church or to help those who attended develop deeper relationships and connections with the church community.
The Project: We had a tight time frame to film all the content for the 4 episodes, but I always relish a challenge and everyone involved worked hard to stay to schedule. One of the ways I helped us film quicker was to provide a teleprompter for the presenters when filming the scripted segments of the episodes. This enables the presenters to maintain eyecontact with the camera, key when delivering content for training, and also released them from the pressure of learning lines, something they were very grateful for! Over the filming days we traveled to various locations around liverpool, meeting and interviewing a range of people across the church. My equipment set up was flexible to suit the creative vision and the factors of where we were shooting, sometimes just taking the one camera, for instance when we were filming in one of the parks, other times having a multi-camera set up.
During the edit, I designed and opening intro as well as graphics to intertwine to enhance the training in the episodes. I also had continued communication with the team at St James for their feedback on content and style.
The Feedback:
The clients were very happy with the end product which was delivered to meet the rapid deadline, and immediately rolled out the first episode to be used as a training resource. The response from people watching and taking part in the course has been very positive. The video style training, which involved lots of real stories from real people was a great success! The hard work paid off!
